On October 12, NVIDIA released the new driver 496.13. This release has one big feature, NVIDIA has discontinued support for Windows 8.1, Windows 8 and Windows 7. The last driver that supports these systems is now 472.12, you can read more details at TechPowerUp.
Through an entry in the bugtracker by Dubby I became aware of this. Because of this change NV Updater is currently not able to find the newest driver package, this is because I made a simple rewrite of the standard driver package. So both versions were always available at the same time. I am currently rewriting the API call so that the new DCH packages are found correctly.
NV Updater will now automatically set the DCH mode in the options for new installations, if you don't use DCH mode, you will be stuck with driver 472.12.
So important: If you want the latest driver from now on, enable the DCH mode in the options!
